Your Samsung fridge ice maker has gone completely silent — no ice dropping, no sounds, just a sad empty bin every time you reach in. Let's fix that.

What's Actually Going On

First, don't panic and don't call a repairman yet. A Samsung ice maker not working is one of the most common service calls we hear about at the Piedmont shop, and the majority of the time it comes down to one thing: the ice maker assembly itself has given up. The unit stops calling for water, the motor quits cycling, or the thermostat inside the assembly loses its mind — and the whole thing just stops. Dead silence. No ice.

Now, before you order anything, do a quick sanity check. Make sure the ice maker arm isn't in the "off" (raised) position, the water line is connected and the filter isn't completely clogged, and the freezer temp is sitting at 0°F or below. Samsung ice makers are finicky about temperature — if the freezer is running even a few degrees warm, the unit will slow down dramatically or stop entirely. Pull up the settings and verify.

If all of that checks out and your Samsung fridge still has no ice after 24 hours, you're almost certainly looking at a failed ice maker assembly. These units aren't really repairable at the component level — the thermostat, heater, motor, and mold are all integrated — so when one piece fails, you replace the whole assembly. That's exactly what DA97-07365G is for.

The Fix

This repair is genuinely doable at home. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver, a 5/16" nut driver, and about 30 minutes.

  1. Kill the power. Unplug the fridge or flip the breaker. Don't skip this.
  2. Pull out the ice bin and set it aside — you'll want it out of the way.
  3. Locate the ice maker assembly mounted to the top-left wall of the freezer compartment on most Samsung models.
  4. Disconnect the wire harness. It's a simple plug — press the tab and pull straight out.
  5. Remove the two mounting screws (usually 5/16") holding the assembly to the freezer wall.
  6. Pull the old assembly out and compare it to your new DA97-07365G Samsung Ice Maker Assembly. Should be a dead-on match.
  7. Mount the new unit, reconnect the harness, replace the ice bin.
  8. Restore power and give it 24 hours to produce a full first batch. Ice makers need a full freeze cycle before you start judging them.

We keep DA97-07365G in stock at the Piedmont shop. Call or text us at 405-876-8100 for current pricing — it runs right around the range where doing it yourself genuinely saves you $150-$200 over a service call.

When to Call YAP vs DIY

DIY this one. If your freezer temp is verified good and the assembly is confirmed dead, swapping in a DA97-07365G is one of the most beginner-friendly refrigerator repairs out there — two screws and a wire plug. Bro, you've got this.

Call us first if you're not 100% sure it's the assembly. A bad water inlet valve or a failed ice maker control board can mimic the exact same symptoms. Swing by the counter and describe what you're seeing — we'll help you nail down the right part before you buy anything. That's literally what we're here for, fam.
